Serving in Guyana | Mesoamerica
Julie McKeithen grew up a missionary kid in Europe and South America. She moved to the United States in 2007 to study ministry and theatre at Point Loma Nazarene University. Upon graduation, she moved to Colorado Springs and became an associate pastor for the Spanish congregation at Springs First Church of the Nazarene. Then she became an associate pastor at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene serving in the children’s ministry and leading worship. Julie was recently ordained as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene, on the Colorado district, on June 16, 2018.
God called Julie to full-time Christian service when she was 13 and is now excited to have been assigned by the Church of the Nazarene, starting in July 2018, as a full-time missionary to the Caribbean Field which has 14 districts, and encompasses 24 countries. The Caribbean Field works in three languages, Dutch, French and English, while the Mesoamerica Regional office operates in Spanish. God is doing tremendous things in the Caribbean Field right now. Julie is living in the country of Guyana supporting over 27,000 Nazarenes in 264 churches across the Caribbean Field.
Her personal testimony of waiting on God while actively serving Him wherever she lives and in whatever job she has, is a powerful example of living a life in obedience to God’s call impacting the world for Christ.
Going Where the Church is Not Yet
Today there are over 4.3 billion people who live in areas where there is little to no gospel witness. 4.3 billion people who have not heard the message of the gospel, who have never heard the name of Jesus. We believe that everyone deserves to hear. God continues to call the Church of the Nazarene to spread the message of the gospel, to preach holiness, and to bring good news to the poor all over the world. The task is enormous; far too big for anyone to do alone, but together we can go where the church is not yet and see people, communities, and nations transformed. Reaching these people begins with one step, a step of obedience and faithfulness that says yes to God’s call. Take your first step and start your journey toward serving in missions today.
