Trino was born in Costa Rica. He joined the Church of the Nazarene in 1975. Since his teenage years there has been an awareness of God’s call to serve people through Compassionate Ministries. He especially felt God wanted him to minister to marginalized people living in slums around San Jose, Costa Rica. In 1984 he had the opportunity to organize a ministry among street children. He well understood their plight since he had been a street child from the age of seven when his stepfather forced him out of the home and onto the street. This ministry to children developed into other ministries such as dysfunctional families and single mothers living in marginal communities. He was involved with this ministry (Association of Integral Development of Children and Families) for 15 years.
While involved with this ministry Trino served as district NYI president of the Costa Rica Northern District and also as Coordinator of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries. He was then elected as the regional NYI president representing Mexico and Central America from 1993 – 1997.
In 1996 Trino was invited to coordinate an agriculture training program in Malawi and Mozambique. While in this assignment he also gave training to pastors and lay leaders. In 2001 he became the Africa regional coordinator of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and was heavily involved with the Nazarene response to the AIDS epidemic in Africa. He gave oversight also to coordinating response to natural disasters, especially floods and hunger.
Trino started the development of Child Development Ministries aimed at ministry holistically to children providing them with food, health needs, education and the opportunity to accept Jesus as personal Savior.
In 2007 Trino was invited to support the ministry of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in the Eurasia region. Since 2008 he has lived in Kiev, Ukraine. He serves as coordinator of NCM in the CIS as well as Eurasia regional Child Development Ministries' coordinator and district superintendent of the Ukraine district.
